As part of Virya Energy's hydrogen activities, you'll join a specialized team developing a growing portfolio of hydrogen production plants and hydrogen refueling stations across Belgium and the Netherlands, with ambitions to expand further. We combine production development with innovative infrastructure solutions through DATS 24's refueling network, while actively shaping the hydrogen market by establishing strategic partnerships with off takers. This unique position allows us to drive the entire hydrogen value chain forward, from production to end-user applications. As part of Virya Energy's broader renewable energy portfolio, we leverage the group's extensive experience across the energy sector while maintaining our focused expertise in hydrogen development.

We are hiring a Study Engineer Hydrogen who will support hydrogen projects from the concept phase through investment decision-making and subsequently contribute to their successful realization.

Do you want to help build one of the most promising technologies of the energy transition? At Virya H2, you will assess the technical and economic feasibility of green hydrogen projects. By combining engineering, data analysis, and investment studies, you will contribute to projects that help decarbonize industry.

Your responsibilities

  • Develop the technical foundations of large-scale green hydrogen projects that contribute to the decarbonization of industry in Belgium.

  • Participate in the technical studies that support the development of our hydrogen production projects.

  • Carry out feasibility studies and analyze large datasets to assess project viability.

  • Coordinate and manage relationships with external engineering firms and study agencies.

  • Support investment decisions through yield calculations and techno-economic assessments.

  • Provide technical support and optimization for our operational production installations.

  • Monitor, manage, and optimize the performance of active production assets.

  • Support the procurement, design, and commissioning of new production installations.

  • Contribute to projects related to maintenance, planning, and production optimization.

  • Work closely with Business Developers and provide technical expertise throughout the project development process.

Job requirements

  • Master's degree in Industrial Engineering or Civil Engineering. 

  • 3-8 years of experience in technical studies, feasibility studies, or engineering projects within the energy, infrastructure, or industrial sector. 

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights. 

  • Affinity with energy infrastructure, renewable energy, hydrogen, or related technologies. 

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with both technical and business stakeholders. 

  • Fluent in Dutch, English, French.
