    • Braine l'Alleud, Walloon Region, Belgium
  • Sales

Job description

As part of Virya Energy's hydrogen activities, you'll join a specialized team developing a growing portfolio of hydrogen production plants across Belgium and the Netherlands, with ambitions to expand further. We combine production development with innovative infrastructure solutions through DATS 24's refuelling network, while actively shaping the hydrogen market by establishing strategic partnerships with off takers. This unique position allows us to drive the entire hydrogen value chain forward, from production to end-user applications. As part of Virya Energy's broader renewable energy portfolio, we leverage the group's extensive experience across the energy sector while maintaining our focused expertise in hydrogen development.

As Commercial Project Developer Hydrogen, you will play a key role in strengthening our position in the hydrogen market and expanding our project portfolio. With your strategic insight, commercial mindset, and strong stakeholder management skills, you will turn opportunities into investable large-scale hydrogen projects that drive a more sustainable future.

You will work closely with public authorities, industrial partners, investors, and internal experts—taking ownership of the full development process, from initial concept to project launch.

This includes:

  • Expand our hydrogen portfolio, including production plants and refueling stations.

  • Identify and assess new market and project opportunities in Belgium and Europe.

  • Shape project concepts, business models, and value propositions in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Translate opportunities into clear, viable project proposals.

  • Build strong relationships with partners, investors, government bodies, and industry players.

  • Take full ownership of the internal approval process and drive projects from concept to implementation.

  • Structure and execute complex energy transactions in close cooperation with finance, legal, technology, and public affairs teams.

  • Prepare compelling business cases that address risks and create long-term value for investors.

  • Report on project progress, strategic decisions, and impact to the Business Development Manager.

Job requirements

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Engineering, or a related field.

  • You bring 10–15 years of experience in project or business development within the energy sector. Thanks to your expertise, you can easily assess new ideas and translate them into concrete, high-quality projects.

  • Solid understanding of the energy landscape — preferably in hydrogen, gas, and electricity.

  • Strategic and conceptual thinker with the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly.

  • Strong relationship builder who can align diverse stakeholder interests.

  • Solution-oriented, entrepreneurial, and focused on feasibility and value creation.

  • Fluent in Dutch and English (French and German is a plus).

  • Willing to travel across Europe for stakeholder engagement and project development.

Offer:

  • Join a fast-growing developer that’s shaping the energy transition in Belgium and beyond.

  • A full-time job and an open-ended contract (no consulting).

  • Benefits such as a green company car, meal vouchers, group insurance and health care insurance for you and your family members.

  • Flexible workplace: homeworking up to 2-3 days per week.

  • To be eligible for this role, you reside in Belgium and hold a valid work permit.

Our offices are currently located in Braine-l'Alleud. As of 2026, the workplace will be in Halle.
