Job description
As part of Virya Energy's hydrogen activities, you'll join a specialized team developing a growing portfolio of hydrogen production plants across Belgium and the Netherlands, with ambitions to expand further. We combine production development with innovative infrastructure solutions through DATS 24's refuelling network, while actively shaping the hydrogen market by establishing strategic partnerships with off takers. This unique position allows us to drive the entire hydrogen value chain forward, from production to end-user applications. As part of Virya Energy's broader renewable energy portfolio, we leverage the group's extensive experience across the energy sector while maintaining our focused expertise in hydrogen development.
As Business Developer Hydrogen, you will contribute strategically and conceptually to the development of large-scale hydrogen projects in Belgium, the Netherlands, France, and across Europe. You work closely with a wide range of stakeholders — from public authorities and industrial partners to investors — and know how to turn ideas into concrete, profitable projects that support a more sustainable future.
You will play a key role in the energy transition and help hydrogen projects grow into valuable investment opportunities. In this role, you combine market expertise, strategic thinking, and strong relationship skills. This includes:
Scaling up our hydrogen portfolio, including production units and refueling stations.
Exploring new market and project opportunities in the European hydrogen sector to meet capacity targets.
Thinking strategically and conceptually with all involved parties on project setup, business models, and value creation.
Identifying needs and opportunities and translating them into clear project proposals.
Building and maintaining strong relationships with partners, investors, government bodies, industry stakeholders, …
Leading the full internal approval and implementation cycle, taking full end-to-end ownership of projects.
Developing and executing complex energy transactions, working closely with internal teams including finance, legal, technology, and public affairs.
Convincing investors through clear business cases, risk management, and long-term sustainable value creation.
Reporting to the Business Development Manager on progress, strategy, and project impact.
